I gave a baking workshop yesterday and there were 12 really nice straight cis people of all ages. (they came in the shape of couples, mostly) and the guys who had the wood fired oven were also really non-queer, and really nice. it was all super nice, only that I was the only person telling ppl my pronouns in the introduction circle, and was getting misnamed anyway bc ppl had misremembered my name and made it into a female name.. and other than that ppl just tried hard to avoid any pronoun or sign of gendering me, so to not misgender me, but.. it was also very non-affirming and I felt no acknowledgement of what I had told them about my gender. and later I hung out with a friend and a random old dude passed by and started to talk to us, rather, he talked to my cis passing friend, and mentioned several times how he didn't know how to address me and talk to me without being "politically incorrect" and my friend tried to joke to get through that awkward situation, and we let it go bc he was so old..
