@FSonder@mastodon.ie Anyone recall in the grimmest days of austerity when councils were forced to close libraries in the UK, the Tory communities secretary, Eric Pickles, said the only people who cared about libraries were ‘luvvies’. He was building on what culture secretary, Ed Vaizey had already said that was libraries were only used by the middle classes, therefore it didn’t matter if they were cut. Tories robbed the poorest of our state assets by making out these resources were irrelevant.
