Running Docker such that files in the container mount end up owned by the current host user is what I want 100% of the time. Absolutely 100%. So why is it always pulling teeth to make it work, and it's different for every bloody container image? WTAF? This is why I hate Docker. #Docker #Programming

@Crell@phpc.social im convinced docker only exists to create a niche job market for people willing to hate themselves for a paycheque.

@Crell@phpc.social this is sort of how podman works isn’t it? I am just starting to use it a couple of weeks ago.

@Crell@phpc.social It's frankly amazing how the entire point of docker was "since it works on your computer, we'll ship a copy of your computer!" - and it made everything worse because half of all containers are missing binaries and libraries that it needs to work

@Crell@phpc.social yeah 100%. My personal pet peeve is that running Apache in a container is its own particular hell for this reason
