Depends on the bike and the trip!
The must-have items I bring are
- pump
- multitool with bacon strips
These are enough for short and familiar routes with escape options.
For longer and more demanding trips I might add
- sealant (if too much leaked from a tire)
- 15mm wrench (for axle nuts)
- chain lube + rug (if there's a chain)
The rest I've never used and bring only if the trip is risky or long:
- zip ties (you never know)
- tube
- tire levers
- tire boot
- spokes
Things I DON'T bring:
- chain/links/chain pliers (I use belts or SS chains that don't break)
- derailleur hangers (no derailleurs)
- extra bolts (there are unused bolts installed in the frame)
- patch kit (no tubes)
- pliers
- cables/housing

@ascentale@sfba.social @jerzone@techhub.social @bikenite@fedigroups.social I know it's not a part of the question, but ways to fix the human are also important to bring, like a first aid kit, anti-inflammatory (ibuprofen), calcium (tums), antihistamine.
