Folks, we had two important years to build public social media independent from corporate control. Today with Meta's censorship of Indivisible we are seeing the result of the left not investing sufficient time and effort in creating a public option. This will only get worse as we approach the election. And don't think Bluesky is safe. Thank goodness for the Fediverse. As miniscule as we are, we are still a beacon of truth that is defensible against big tech hegemony.

  • @mastodonmigration@mastodon.online I started going to Indivisible meetings three years ago. My local organized on Facebook and I chastised them for it. They didn't like me. They argued with me. Well, I told them. They just thought they knew better. People, listen to the lefties in your life. Listen to the people who are unplugged from billionaire socials, who read books, who have clarity.

@mastodonmigration@mastodon.online The far right (billionaires) are building a media ecosystem. Elon bought Twitter and turned it into a right wing propaganda machine. Trump pulled Meta inline and got it scrap a lot of the moderation that kept the pathological lying right slightly subded. They have the Murdoch Empire behind them. Russia funds YouTube Influences and bot armies. AI spits out answers that are supposed to show a "balance" of views which ends up just being right wing talking points. The Trump Admin pressures every other media company to not air shows it doesn't like and sues the BBC. The left needs to have a response to this and at least one part should be the #Fediverse.
