I've heard folks say, "I use these words because they hurt right wingers. I want to insult them."
The question is, why do you agree with right wingers that "disabled" is an insult? Why do you think it's more insulting to accuse them of something people are born with rather than focusing on their actual choices to do evil things?

It also reinforces the idea that the level of intelligence one is born with is a virtue (if it's high)...as if people cannot be highly intelligent and also evil. As if sane, highly intelligent people cannot also choose to be fascist murderers. It's an excuse abled people make to overlook the banality of evil and the part they play in it.
