@stellarsarah@mastodon.world I love my milkweed plants, and I am growing to learn the power of native plants and how resilient they are in their zones. Did you have to stratify the milkweed seeds? Any important details about how you started them indoors? My plants are releasing seeds now and I'm considering collecting some and starting them to plant in the spring.

@Snuggle2476@mas.to yes, I stratified them by putting them on a piece of damp paper towel in a bag in the fridge for about a month (maybe more like 6 weeks). Then I planted 1-2 seeds each in a peat cup and germinated them in a small seed starting greenhouse just sitting in front of a south-facing window. I had maybe 15 such cups with milkweed (some common and some butterfly weed), about half of them had sprouts and I managed to get 6 or 7 cups into the ground after hardening off.
