@Crell@phpc.social Good writing is a symptom of clear thinking and/or caring about how your thoughts will be understood by others. Both are incredibly valuable in tech.

@Crell@phpc.social I've said for many years that any success I've had in the tech industry is due to my communication skills - which are a product of a liberal arts education. 💪

@Crell@phpc.social it's critical for more than just documentation, though clear and concise writing is certainly valuable there. for justifications to execs for projects, RFPs, grant applications, solicitations for code submissions/conference talks, and so many other places, being able to write more than code well is a skill to be honed and used.

@Crell@phpc.social I feel like most of my 20+ year career in tech is because I can write and communicate clearly and effectively. Being able to translate from Nerd to Mortal has proven invaluable. When I changed my major in college to English from CompSci (because I just couldn't pass the math classes) I was worried that my prospects in tech would be limited, but I genuinely feel now that I would have done worse if I hadn't focused on learning how to communicate.
