https://www.gov.uk/government/news/rough-sleeping-no-longer-a-crime-as-vagrancy-act-repealed Rough sleeping no longer a crime as Vagrancy Act repealed I don't ever understand why they criminalized homelessness in the first place. It should be a crime to knowingly making a person homeless. It should be a crime for putting people on waiting list before giving them council housing. It should be a crime to erode all public access less accessible to ensure homeless people wouldn't be able to sleep. #UKPolitics

@codingotaku@tech.lgbt "I don't ever understand why they criminalized homelessness in the first place." AFAIK it was because the Victorians considered poverty to be a moral failing, and therefore criminalised it.

@codingotaku@tech.lgbt I don't ever understand why they criminalized homelessness in the first place. The agricultural revolution then the industrial revolution basically. Can't help but wonder if the Kangaroo court legislation introduced by Starmer will take 2 centuries to repeal.
