@DavidM_yeg@beige.party I also think it's pretty rich to think "the Americans won WWII". A hell of a lot of work and dying was done by everyone else, then the Americans finally showed up and pushed it over the line. @crispius@mstdn.fname.ca @chris@mstdn.chrisalemany.ca @anderspuck@mastodon.social @LynnD@cosocial.ca

@ZenHeathen@beige.party exactly this, and especially the Soviets who already had the Germans on the run at huge cost, but I suppose that they can claim it as a win since the Western allies were led by Eisenhower, and they did win in the Pacific theatre. The idea that they were heroic Nazi-fighters is myth. The Yanks wouldn’t have gone into Europe if Hitler hadn’t declared war on them first. @DavidM_yeg@beige.party @crispius@mstdn.fname.ca @chris@mstdn.chrisalemany.ca @anderspuck@mastodon.social
