Unlike traditional rooftop solar panels, which require professional installation, balcony solar installations can be plugged into a three-prong wall socket, generating cheap electricity from a balcony, terrace, shed roof or any other outdoor space."

They're emerging now because of three things — falling prices for batteries, the easing of electrical regulations in some regions, and soaring wholesale gas prices." https://www.techradar.com/home/smart-home/plug-in-batteries-are-the-real-game-changer-i-talked-to-octopus-energy-and-anker-about-the-home-energy-revolution-than-could-soon-be-bigger-than-solar-for-millions
