It is so important and so revealing that @parismarx focuses on #Ireland for a portion of Chapter 3 "Power" in the just released #Hyperscale book. While awarenesses is rising here, many Irish residents don't realise how poorly the country is being regarded internationally for its business practices. Marx's book has a global scope and highlights Ireland specifically as a place for digital technologies excesses to take place. In Irish Higher Ed, the conversation is still clogged with reductive, backwards and destructive perspectives that want to please and support industry at any cost. Specifically at the cost of our students and their futures. I'm really grateful for this book. Ireland is continuing to act extremely selfishly. Our government does not care about any climate action or regulation, it expects to pay its way out, but it does care about its reputation internationally. Ireland is burning the match at both ends, and it will be isolated. #mastodoine #datacenter #datacentre
