Right. And to repeat the obvious, these distinctions about "crazy" must indeed be understood, both in general and in every case it is used (sometimes it is easy to tell the intended meaning, but not always, I don't think). As far as I know, there is a thesis or a hypothesis that Van Gogh's condition was caused or made worse by paint poisoning. Some of the paints he used contained harmful chemicals, but that wasn't known at the time (or was poorly known), so it couldn't be diagnosed then.
