@Njord@peoplemaking.games I would love to get a second cat. He accepted a second cat once, my mom’s cat became my cat when she died, about a month after I got this one. It took a week but he finally accepted her. She died in 2023 and I’ve wanted to get a second cat since then, but this guy is SO TERRITORIAL that he freaks out if he sees another cat outside in the parking lot. I used to go out and socialize with the neighbor kitties, but then he started biting me when I would acknowledge that there are cats outside. So I had to stop being friends with them. And he doesn’t bite me anymore. He’s the boss and I don’t think I’m allowed to get a second cat.

@Njord@peoplemaking.games I have a pair so they bother each other when I'm not home.

@Njord@peoplemaking.games None of the above. My cat or I should say the cat has more than one house. He moves between his houses as he pleases. And he likes it that way and so far no one has been able to convince him otherwise.

@Njord@peoplemaking.games Yes, they both are. (they were both accustomed to being the only cat before me and they do NOT get along)

@Njord@peoplemaking.games I answered "one cat is my limit" but it's more like "my one cat demands so much attention that I'm afraid getting another cat, even to be his companion, would potentially decrease my current cat's access to lap time by an unacceptable margin in his view." He is very friendly and likes other cats, but likes people more, especially me, and there is only one of me here.

@Njord@peoplemaking.games when my wife and I moved in together, I had two cats, and she had one. I always thought "three dependants are a good number, human or pets and she agreed”. We now have four cats and two children 😵‍💫 😅

@Njord@peoplemaking.games We got her as a kitten to keep our other cat company once we discovered that my husband was not allergic to her breed. Our first cat died and the current kitty (now over 12 years old) tolerates no other animals at all. She loves all humans though.

@Njord@peoplemaking.games Sometimes I think our cats *should have been* only cats--one is willful, rambunctious and cranky, the other is shy and timid, and I think either of them would have been fine monopolizing the attention of her humans without another cat to socialize with. But the sitiuation is what it is.
