@katzentratschen@mastodon.social @dictor@gaygeek.social @geoffl@mastodon.me.uk so what did we learn here? 1. #AI fakes have us all twisted and trusting nothing 2. pedants can be wrong 3. casual #socialMedia does not need to abide by the standards of courtroom legal dispensations people, think before you post about something being AI or not: "what is the potential for harm here?" and if there is none, cool it 4/4

@benroyce@mastodon.social @katzentratschen@mastodon.social @dictor@gaygeek.social @geoffl@mastodon.me.uk Honestly I don't trust any of those AI checkers. I think the only actual surefire way to counter AI fakes is artist attribution but our tools are not currently well set up to make that easy.

  • @benroyce@mastodon.social @katzentratschen@mastodon.social @dictor@gaygeek.social @geoffl@mastodon.me.uk I've had my own run-in with the pedants for accidentally reposting an AI image (which I know ultimately you didn't), the main takeaway of which was that I must Be Corrected and Must Learn as I had made a Terrible Mistake. In all the self-righteous bollocks that ensued in the post I chose not to reply as I was so irritated and not once did anyone ask me what I thought or ask me to contribute. I was just fuel for their self-congratulation. Get a life, tbh
