@noybeu@mastodon.social From #Firefox version 120, you can make use of #Global #Privacy #Control (#GPC) to automatically notify websites not to #sell or #share information about your browsing session on that website. Turn on: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/global-privacy-control Check a website for GPC: https://gpcsup.com/sites/vansoest.it

@noybeu@mastodon.social stop once and for all the "we and our 23473 partners do really care about your privacy" bullshit. The technical solution has existed for years ! Enough is enough

@noybeu@mastodon.social Most cookie banners aren't legal in the first place. The only way to get rid of them is jail time for the owner of the website (CEO for corporate web sites).

@erinaceus@chaos.social @noybeu@mastodon.social Yea, this! The need to differentiate between different kind of cookies is the truely misleading thing. Actually I have the same issue with android app permissions. Obviously I need to give an app permission to store the work I do with it on my file system, but maybe I don't want to give them permission to scan the whole system. There is no way to consent to one and not the other. Even sites that differentiate between functional and other cookies 1/2

@noybeu@mastodon.social The cookie banner is one of the best things to happen to public awareness of tracking on the web.

@noybeu@mastodon.social Nature does this but still presents a banner with a button to click. It's no better. https://www.nature.com/latest-news
