"You merely adopted the darkness; I was born in it!" I assume at this point that no one is going to ask why I'm wearing a mask in good faith. They're just trying to start an argument, and I'm not going to let them start it on their terms

@Njord@peoplemaking.games It's all of them at once. I wear a mask everyday in all circumstances. If I'm also sick I'll take more precautions than just the mask of course. But I wear mask to not get sick, to not get people sick, and also to help (ever so slightly) with allergies. So, really, it's all of these. When asked however, my reply is "I think it's a good thing, for me, and for you 👍🏿"

But I did prepare a response when mask mandates dropped, if someone told me they weren't required anymore: the government doesn't require me to wear deodorant or brush my teeth but I do so anyway for the benefit of others. My wife's response (if someone had asked) was going to be: what?!? I don't trust the government, do you?? Possibly followed up with: I did my own research

@Njord@peoplemaking.games I don’t think I’ve ever had anyone ask me, tbh, or heard anyone ask anyone else. I had a drunk guy on a train say ‘still wearing the masks? Good stuff’ once, and that’s basically all the mention I’ve ever had of it (except for people asking to remove for ID or medical reasons). But it was never really politicised here, I think.

(In fact, that's only one of my reasons, and obviously not the biggest one at first: the truth is closer to "all of the above")

I could carry it into or out of the care center interrupting others' care, or making them sick, I could get sick and have my care interrupted. @Njord@peoplemaking.games I thought about this for a few days and I wonder if "I don't want to get sick" would resonate better with the people who don't mask, because they already aren't thinking about how their actions affect other people. So the "selfish" answer might make the most sense to them
