@penguinrebellion@tldr.nettime.org @Codeberg@social.anoxinon.de although I support partially the cause, I don't see this kind of absolute attitude to help. Nobody taking code from stackoverflow also knows that code's license (or any other forum, site, etc.) It's a dangerous path to follow, the same where now everywhere there is captcha to verify that you are human. Punishing humans for just doing human things is not just annoying... I ponder utilizing of those services now.

  • @dooms@selfdon.0x7c4.com Codeberg are only naming copyright and security issues, so from that perspective, this is a valid concern. Talking about "humans doing human things", though: one of the most puzzling aspects of " #AI " is how humans can look at the endless list of severe harms done by it, on an increasing scale (environment; communities around data center locations; creatives and arts; scientific publications; you name it) and still say things like "Yeah, but leaving all of this aside … just gimme more of it". While we have been described as "cognitive misers" that will cut corners whenever they can, historically it served the purpose of saving time and effort by trusting in, and maintenance of, experience and knowledge. With both being replaced by "How to get away with producing and consuming mostly bullshit", the mental connection to reality and facts has been severed. One can burn an awful lot of this planet before realizing what one has done. That's why the use of "mostly" is disappointing, despite Codeberg's move being a net positive. @Codeberg@social.anoxinon.de
