On day 3 we cycled to Trieste.
Pro tip: there is a ferry from downtown to Muggia to skip the awful industrial port district of Trieste, running hourly, 6 EUR with bike. Useful when riding #EuroVelo8 or the #Parenzana trail.

Day 4 (yesterday): took a 20min train ride to escape Trieste and started riding from Monfalcone. The cycling route follows the dykes, sometimes on top of them. The long awaited moment of spotting flamingos feeding in the lagoons also arrived! Good bike paths, almost no traffic. Everyone else is a German pensioner on ebike.
