I love how it categorizes my full time professional job, which I did a degree in and everything, as a “hobby.”

They said I upgraded my computer hardware in the past year which is funny because I mean have you seen the prices? It’s probably pulling from me buying a keeb as a gift but I wouldn’t consider peripherals as part of computer hardware lol. Technically but also not really

Mine is pretty boring. Honestly, I imagine Amazon has a much deeper profile for us hidden away and this is the one they wanted us to find to diffuse our suspicions of being constantly spied on… Seriously, I bet me TV knows more about me than that list.

Lmao they think I have kids. …actually now that I think about it for 5 seconds I think they just love defrauding advertisers.

Not only did they have my age range completely inaccurate they’ve also listed camping as a hobby. I don’t even own a tent, I have no idea why they think I like camping. I’ve never bought any company equipment from them, I’ve never accessed the website from communal wi-fi and campsite. I don’t know where they’re getting this assumption from.

What’s the cheapest way to gaslight these data points? Let’s say one has $10 to spare, what would you buy to ruin their model?

Funny that it knows this, yet chooses to ignore it.

Why are so many of you still shopping with Amazon? Genuinely I do not understand it.

Likely favors ZigBee smart home protocol Plays video games across multiple platforms Consistently repurchasing specialty food staples Likely has outdoor space Though it definitely gets a lot of other things wrong, like the number of kids I have.

Hilariously I apparently am big into adheasivly mounting things and also buying batteries. Nothing about my buttocks, sadly. Oh. And I prefer Anker chargers.

Mine says “Builds Xbox controller collection gradually.” I buy my husband a new controller about every 8 months because the sticks start to drift. Maybe it should say Xbox makes shit products.

@Aeder@lemmy.world 2026-10-08 05:35
Mine has nearly everything other than brand preferences wrong, since I buy both my stuff and other people’s stuff plus gifts through the same account.

It’s so confused about me because my whole household uses one Amazon account.

Seems like this is just an American thing. I have a German and an American account and couldn’t find the “About You” page on the German one. Man, I love GDPR

@captain_aggravated@sh.itjust.works 2026-10-07 21:44
Mine is pretty straightforward, “builds electronics” “has precision tools” “likely has a french press” (I do, I bought it on Amazon), “prioritizes high-speed data transfer”, “Probably has a computer system with internal expansion” (I bought an NVMe SSD from Amazon once), “Likely lives in (the town in my saved shipping address)” So surveillance. Much sleuthing.

@Zak@lemmy.world 2026-10-07 20:29
Mine doesn’t have anything of a particularly personal nature, just obvious stuff from purchase history like: Likely favors Merrell brand for outdoor footwear (I have purchased the same model of Merrell shoe several times) Hikes frequently (a reasonable guess about someone who repeatedly buys hiking boots) Likely has a ThinkPad laptop (I bought trackpoint caps) Likely owns an Olympus camera (I bought a battery for an Olympus camera)

Nothing like “falsely reports products as stolen to get a refund while keeping them.” Phew! I mean… damn porch pirates!

I had to check, it talks about what pets I have. And incorrectly states my preferred brand for reptile supplement and habitat equipment. I somewhat expected more. But I guess I really only use Amazon to order aquarium lighting.

The cold weather ebiking stuff is funny and unique, it would be a “no shit” if it realized I live in Minnesota, but because this account predates my move Amazon just doesn’t have a “lives in place” listing for me. So it’s definitely pulling from Whole Foods sales info too, I noticed their self checkout recognizing me when I used the same credit card they have on file. There’s a Whole Foods across the street from the vape shop I used to go to and they were the only place anywhere nearby that carried a local brewery NA beer that I like, and those purchases have to be the source of the “non-alcoholic specialty food” thing.

I hope everyone has added this to their file about Jeff Bezos Amazon founder Jeff Bezos had Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell attend his private, invitation-only, weekend at a resort he rented out. Bezos also has numerous private dinners with Epstein. They were good friends.

Everyone getting mad that they made a profile about you, but nobody acknowledging that you can edit the info and make them believe crazy things about you.
