Automated message on the tram just now asking people not to stand in the doorways, "... move into the main saloon as soon as possible". 'Saloon'??? That sounds strange. I have never heard a tram carriage called a 'saloon' by anyone.

@perkinsy@aus.social New regulations have alcohol consumption permitted inside trams more than 1 metre from any door. The Saloon is for standing with hard liquors, the Front Bar, immediately behind the train drivers cabin, is where beer is drunk and the forward and back facing seats are the Wine Bar. Edit: The above is how things are done on my model tram network. Things always lag with Yarra Trams.
