@alternativeto@mas.to So, someone felt "Choose Your Own Adventure" was too limiting and doesn't like that RPGs need someone to run the game? I've been waiting for years for someone to develop a non-linear ebook format so I could have a book where I could choose an ordering for the contents and get it in that order. For example, today I want to read the Chronicles of Narnia in publication order and next week I want them in timeline order. Same content, different default presentation, defined by setting an option in the table of contents. I want it for book series, and for reference book and for textbooks. But oh, no, I can't have that. Books don't work that way. Instead I get "What the world really needs is for people to pretend they live in movies". Sigh.

@alternativeto@mas.to Note that there has been AI stuff in several recent versions - and after the very first one, it became pure opt in. The first one was default on and got a lot of pushback. Quote on the "feature" mentioned above, from calibre's What's New Page: "As always with AI features its completely optional and not even loaded unless you explicitly run it. Go to Preferences->Toolbars & menus and add the "Create your own Adventure" to the main toolbar to use it"

@alternativeto@mas.to did anyone ask for this? Did anyone think they need this? What the hell is wrong with you?
