I saw a picture of a beautiful tree. People had gathered under it, admiring the beauty through screens. And then someone told a story that brought the energy of the thread down. Instead of admiring the tree, the thread became a bad landlords discussion.
I learned to Observe myself a while back, and that led me to discover that I was going the equivalent of this myself, a habit I've been unwiring every time I see it manifest, now.
You know the saying "if you can't say something nice, dont say anything at all"?
I've learned that if I have something not-nice to say, I will save it for the right time and space. And usually only once, with deliberate forethought as to why I am sharing. At the least, I aim to not let idle complaints fall from my lips, even if I have to interrupt myself and explain I've decided not to engage further with that story or memory. Anything more that I Observe myself feeling the urge to say is a call for self reflection - to see why I might want to expend energy with that topic, and whether this is the way I want to expend that energy.
Anyway, this was a nice reminder to reinforce those habits, so I don't go around farting on other people's beautiful moments.
