@david_chisnall@infosec.exchange Might we at the same time upgrade grapefruit to pamplemousse and slipper to pantoufle? Likewise much more fun to say.

@david_chisnall@infosec.exchange Also deprecate Pineapple. Use Ananas like rest of the world. It's not a pine nor an apple.

@david_chisnall@infosec.exchange Have you cleared the licencing rights with l'Académie Française? You'd need its permission to use butterfly in French, it's only logical to assume it's also needed in the reverse direction.

@david_chisnall@infosec.exchange I can agree that papillon is more fun to pronounce, but since childhood I’ve been amused by English having flying butter! Also regarding the word “papillon”, I’d like to take this opportunity to promote @ZachWeinersmith@mastodon.social’s observation that seems kinda obvious in hindsight: https://www.smbc-comics.com/comic/butterfly

@david_chisnall@infosec.exchange I'll admit that the only reason I know the word papillon is the TV show Miraculous, les aventures de Ladybug et Chat Noir.
