@drew@social.freebitcoin.gay i wonder, has anybody ever asked #NetBSD to reconsider the "core can approve slop" clause, or to publish some info on whether core has approved #slop so far? sounds quite cool though! I'm still hoping somebody might fork an older #Linux #kernel - might be hard to keep that going but it would send a sign. #LLM #NoSlop #ensloppification #AI #NoAI #FreeSoftware #FOSS #FLOSS #OpenSource

@drew@social.freebitcoin.gay Relatedly, I'm also looking for an artist to draw a logo for #s6 ! s6 is a process supervision suite that has grown into a complete init system (incidentally the one #AlpineBSD is using). Ideally the logo would represent a young striped wild boar, as cute as you can make it. (The main author of a well-known init system once called s6 a "dependency hog".)

@drew@social.freebitcoin.gay first one is kinda basic. another option would be just the mountain with BSD cut away inside it, makes for a squarer logo second one is inspired by the alpine longhorn beetle, avoided the dots to keep it uncluttered. third one includes spots and curves and stuff, more visually complex

@drew@social.freebitcoin.gay Would it be possible for me to use absd-ports alongside pkgsrc? Cause I have a NetBSD install already and would like to use it more

@drew@social.freebitcoin.gay throwing my hat in the ring, maybe this is a bit too close to both alpine and netbsd logos?

@drew@social.freebitcoin.gay I put this together quickly in inkscape, feel free to use it if you want

@drew@social.freebitcoin.gay Depending on how iterative you like your logotypes and isotypes here are some quick scribbles, which is just rearranging the existing visual identity of the other projects into one. This is the type of thing that would less require someone to doodle designs and more having some broad goal of what the identity/message could be like.

@drew@social.freebitcoin.gay Cannot have a logo without a joke answer either. Being obsessed with bunnies this would be our choice (closeness to the Hare language and all, too).

@drew@social.freebitcoin.gay Like a reverse Chimera Linux? Linux bits in a BSD instead of BSD bits in a Linux? I love that idea!
