@mothling@mementomori.social If you stay in the city, the Premier Inn is fairly reasonable and decent. You may be familiar with the chain in the UK (owned by Whitbread). Quay Co-op has an interesting history in terms of being a focal point for socially positive campaigning (LGBT, abortion, etc). It has a wholefood store. Until recently it had a café. That shut down a while back but I think it may be up and running again under new management. Plenty of good bars in the city. The Roundy is one of my favourites. Buy a souvenir hat! I see others have suggested Cobh. Be aware that the local economy there is geared around cruise ships. So if there isn't one docked when you are there, you might find a lot of bars and eateries closed. If you do go there, go to the Mauretania Bar. The folks that run it are lovely people. Do visit Spike Island. It's kinda Cork's Alcatraz.

@ratcatcher@beige.party thanks for the recommendations, I've added them to the list! Also thanks for the heads up, re: Cobh and businesses, I'm guessing it's a love/hate thing in terms of cruise ships. Also will look into Spike Island.
