@notthatdelta@furry.engineer If you're willing to get your hands 'dirty' you could repurpose a second-hand iPad, maybe with custom firmware? Pop it in a standard photo frame without the glass front and you'd be away.

@beemoh@mastodonapp.uk I do like the idea of upcycling! If it were for me, I would definitely try something like this (I even have an old android tablet sitting around that I could use). But, since it's a gift for my dad and he doesn't live nearby, I'd like to get something that "just works". Don't want him to have to ship his gift back to me for troubleshooting!
