For sure Eliza wasn't less intelligent than Dana Whitfield - I'd say a little bit less chatty.

@goedelchen@mastodontech.de @rdnielsen@floss.social I think that confirms my guess - Eliza's responses come across to me as less "phony" than Dana's. But obviously Eliza wasn't coded as to be a job interviewer, whereas Dana was intended for that purpose. However its responses are still just taking a few words from the "interviewee" and constructing a sentence using them. I don't think it simulates understanding any better than Eliza did.
