The proliferation of "AI" slop *does* harm the original art. It's created an environment where now everyone's on guard when they view images or read things, and frequently accuse human creations of being slop, incorrectly.
It's stolen people's trust in artistic creation.

We live in a world of "live, laugh, love" home decor purchased at big box stores. I wish things were as you describe, but I don't think they are, at least not broadly enough to influence social currents.
