I’ve always had a hard time calling myself a feminist because I didn’t really know much of the ideology. I knew I agreed with most the sentiment though.
That changed when I watched multiple “Foreign Man in a Foreign Land” video which continuously came back to the patriarchy and how it relates to pretty much all of our modern day struggles since truly it harms us all.
I saw how the rape culture made female victims into liars and male victims the “lucky” guys. I related that to my own understanding of how rape is seen as a valid punishment for women who go against it like recently with a democratic candidate. I heavily relate it to V-Coding the method of sexually placating aggressive prisoners with trans women along with the systematic rape and abuse trans women like me would face in prison.
I see how it turns us against ourselves constantly. I wish more men understood how fucked the system is because while they 100% have privelage they are paying a price by losing many of the things they may want or desire.
It hurts even more to see women infighting against their own interests because that is what the partiarchy wanted in the first place. To divide, control and objectify us.
This all in turn has caused tremendous harm to the queer community because evwrything we are goes against the gender role narratives set out for us.
I’m not going to speak on race too much because I don’t feel that’s my place to speak but so many POC in every category have been fucked over by colonialism and trying to fit into a culture that was built on the subjugation and destruction of many differe people and cultures.
So yeah if I had a single reason for being feminist it’s because normal is not enough, normal has been fucked for a long time.
