Cooler today #running from Whitby to Robin Hood’s Bay and back on the Cinder Trail. On Tuesday I went back along the coast via Cleveland Way but it was not as good for running, so today was out and back. Cinder Trail is a former railway line. Over 200m elevation gain over this route. Beautiful views.

@steveroyle@biologists.social If you’re still in the area I highly recommend visiting the Ravenscar Seal Colony: https://www.thewhitbyguide.co.uk/visit-the-ravenscar-seal-colony/! It’s less than a 30 min drive from Whitby and is on both the Cinder Trail and Cleveland Way that you mentioned. The descent is a steep one (sturdy footwear is essential) but you get amazing views of Robin Hood’s Bay and are bound to see tens of seals 🦭 I love that place - I last visited it after my PhD viva and it was beautiful even on a cold January day!
