Not really, prices for DDR4 “only” have doubled, whereas prices for DDR5 have quadrupled.

Definitely has become more expensive, but I assume this is intel trying to sell units to consumers with existing systems that otherwise would not be upgrading, due to the cost of moving to a DDR5 platform.
