Its amazing that some of the foods I like the most were invented because we didn't have a food surplus. Hunger makes excellent cooks

The majority of culinary history is just throwing whatever the fuck we had in the pantry together, or finding wacky ways to preserve stuff to not starve and accidentally discovering gold (And then having chefs act like arrogant pricks because of it). Cheese is a good example. "I let the milk rot and now it's a cornerstone of cooking everywhere forever". Wild shit.
