It is self evident that "stopping the Republicans now will only allow them in later" is a shit reason for not stopping the Republicans now.
No; you need to provide a long-term alternative that actually works.
In two party politics that the US system is set up to enforce, the opposition often moves to the centre where they see their lost votes lying. Republicans winning draws the Democrats to the right. It's been such a long time since the Democrats held all three branches that they have drifted a long way to the right.
And there it is. There are three problems here: First, where's your proof that this is what's going on? Second, before 2024 the Republicans hadn't had all three branches for even longer than the Democrats either yet they kept moving away from the center, so what's up with that? Third, polling has been exceptionally clear on what voters want for ages now and it is emphatically not centrist bullshit. Hell, progressive candidates keep winning all over the place. Why do the Democrats not understand that? Are they so stupid that they can't even read what the polls say? Keep in mind that this is an extraordinary claim that requires extraordinary evidence.
Your can pull the Overton window s l o w l y to the left by not letting the Republicans win.
Again, you need to explain why this doesn't work the other way around, since the Republicans seem very able to sell their policy positions even when they're not in power, but also: Have you seen what the polls say? The Overton window has been at least in the center-left for ages and it's having zero impact on the Democratic establishment's policy. The Democratic Party is well to the right of its electorate.
TL;DR: You're making claims that need to be proven and defended before they can be taken seriously.
PS: Note that for the most part I'm not making my own claims here. I could do that but that can wait until you give me an argument I can seriously engage with.
