I talked to someone who says they were an election monitor, but a local one. For the record, I’m prioritizing everyone’s safety and comfort— tension is high enough these days— so I’m not going to hassle anyone or pry too much in that regard! I’ll take him at his word.
He was very kind, wearing a high visibility vest and a hard hat with a logo I’m unfamiliar with but will google later if I remember. He says it has been a very pleasant day; no national guard or other federal presence so far.

The story I’m telling myself, purely from body language, is that some of my neighbors look a little anxious. Again, not so important to confirm is to bother anyone! So, let’s see. How can we satisfy our curiosity without being disruptive? I think my next stop will be to visit the two official voting locations in King County that I know of; City Hall, and the UW campus. If you see me, don’t be shy, say hi! I’ve got my press card on and everything.
