@dbattistella@mstdn.ca indeed. Being Jewish means being of a faith not a “race”. Same like Christianity and Islam. Shame that not only we didn’t get rid of Nazis (they’re all around us, again) some Jewish people internalized their language, eugenics. I would also encourage people to study Arthur Ruppin in the context of colonial Zionism. Considering himself an “Aryan” Jew, Polish people were not really that high on his list of right kind of Jew to transport to Palestine. The terminology and ideas he developed are indistinguishable from contemporary eugenics and then Nazi concept of purity of race. He even met with race ideologue Hans F. K. Günther in the 1930s. Ruppin’s “philosophy” is deeply embedded in #Zionism as it developed in Palestine. I.e. Kibutz as a lab for a new Jew comes to mind, selective immigration and aspects of the nascent health services, and more.
