https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2026/jul/16/british-girl-stranded-rome-six-weeks-new-passport-rules. "A #British girl was prevented from returning to her #school in the #UK for 6 weeks after a trip to see her #grandmother in #Italy because of the Home Office’s new rule requiring dual British #nationals to have a British #passport to get back into the #country." Yet more narrow-minded, #racist, #xenophobic #HomeOffice stupidity, for which that #ReformUK entryist into the #LabourParty, Shabana #Mahmood, is PERSONALLY responsible!

@rmblaber1956@mastodon.social I am too tired to re-write again here the semi nightmare I had in Italy when I had to renew my passport cause I needed some documents I could NOT yet have cause the ones I had were NOT expired yet and could have NOT been renewed to get the NEW ones needed to renew the passport. Also in the end some ( Italian ) .gov sites weren't working at all and I could not go in person to speak to them because to do so I needed to book an appointment first using the site that wasn't working ..
