@fediversereport@mastodon.social @Mastodon@mastodon.social That said, you identify very real gaps in community tooling and expectations, and the Tŵt app you mention is intentionally attempting to close these gaps, by adding curation and guidance for the community on who and how to interact with at the federation layer. This highlights a cultural separation between generic instances providing messaging accounts, and intentional communities. Admins of both need to bring their respective style and approaches to the forefront.

Mastodon's UI deliberately blurs the local/federated bubbles in order to chase that "public town square" feel.
