We are currently looking at Matrix to replace Mattermost. I got some feedback of institutions successfully using Matrix. What server implementations are you using? There are several options, with Synapse seeming a standard, but they also have a paid tier and we fear they will change license in the future just as Mattermost is doing now.
What are your recommendations regarding Matrix server implementations?
I am expecting migrating from one server to another server a major effort, so we should settle for the "right choice" now. Am I right here? Any experiences with switching Matrix server implementations?

@seecurity@infosec.exchange You effectively cannot switch server implementations. There might have been some scripts at some point in time, but I'm not aware of any that support current server releases.
