@vvbudh@climatejustice.social @thesupertechie@lgbtqia.space But keep in mind that the BSD avoid AI stuff for matter of license ("where it comes from?" if it draws from GPL are issues), code coherency especially for OpenBSD, NetBSD has need to support dozen of phased out architecture that normally AI aren't well trained with.
It has little to do with the technology itself.
Anyway, Gentoo has a no-ai policy, and offers binary packages for avoid long compiling on low power systems.

@vvbudh@climatejustice.social @thesupertechie@lgbtqia.space In truth FreeBSD is much more conservative on LLMs than many wants put it. Not banning completely, because has uses in some areas (and they lag in some), but also unwilling to take AI code (and I think they are too conservative to really accept it in future). They are very far from the open doors of Linux. FreeBSD has Nvidia closed source drivers and the linux compatibility layer is excellent, you can run linux port games on it with few problems. https://www.freebsd.org/status/report-2025-04-2025-06/#_freebsd_core_team
