@JollyR@nicecrew.digital @jb@nicecrew.digital @judgedread@poa.st the best plays for energy independence are probably these, roughly in descending order of immediate personal utility: solar (not great, but has definitely improved)biomass (not terribly efficient, labor- and area-intensive without a lot of capital)geothermal (doable, tech is improving, but locale-dependent)nuclear (lots of regulatory problems here) the thing about most of these is that they are static - they tie you to a location, generally, though with better battery technology that is less of an issue this kind of pattern-matches to the historical “peasant/agricultural” vs. “hunter-gatherer/nomad” shift; power production is more efficient when centralized, but even at small scale, tends to bind you to a specific place without a portable energy source, of which “petrochemicals” are the most efficient form so far in terms of safety/reliability/efficiency, all things considered unless somebody can come up with a nuclear battery that produces somewhere order-of-magnitude close to gasoline in terms of kWh/kg, with reasonably effective shielding, this is going to force a shift in things whose implications are not clear; I have high hopes for jailbroken AI to improve defensive capability for static emplacements, which might shift the balance of power back towards some kind of livable equilibrium a homestead with a couple MW power generation that can’t be interdicted, complete with biodiesel generator and sentry guns ringed around it is a pretty stable arrangement (especially if all your neighbors have one too), since imposing globohomo hegemony over everything requires wasting huge amounts of resources to serially destroy each and every one of them I think about this a lot

> think of this less as a game to seize control than one to destroy productive capacity, and a lot of seemingly inexplicable behaviors become immediately understandable A lot of recent events fit this pattern, starting before Trump was in the Whitehouse. Mostly peaceful protests with arson and terrorism, destruction of industry and military with "diversity", the "pandemic", efforts to start race wars against white European stock, efforts to start gender wars, the culling of flocks and herds based on bogus covid-like PCR "tests", the proxy war in the Ukraine, and now they're trying to start WWIII.
