@johnefrancis@cosocial.ca @alexwild@mastodon.online taking this analogy even further i'd suspect (in this world where ants can talk and read) you'd find plenty of them who'd call themselves cubans just fine and lowkey despise people (or ants) who overthink it others who'd only do that with each other and it's kinda like one of those words if you aren't that race/sexual orientation/ant species then it's a bad slur and you gotta ask with each new colony you run into
