@ascentale@sfba.social @PamelaSchure@universeodon.com @bikenite@fedigroups.social @FlockOfCats@famichiki.jp A3: most of the parents around here who ride with their toddlers have ebikes, all different brands. I see at least 3-4 different brands in our bike bus, parents carrying younger kids while the older one rides solo. I think the preferred brand mostly depends on your budget. #bikenite

@ascentale@sfba.social @PamelaSchure@universeodon.com @bikenite@fedigroups.social @FlockOfCats@famichiki.jp A3. "Say the line, Bart..." "...it depends." "Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!" ... The usual caveats apply - the best bike is one you can afford, maintain (either yourself or at your LBS), store securely, and use in the long run. A long tail cargo e-bike is fairly versatile. My sister has one and can ride with both her kids (8 and 2) on it, or use it for grocery runs, or for commuting, or for just riding around town. She has an Aventon Abound LR which is a good entry level price - under $2k. A bakfeit style cargo e-bike is more robust, and with the trunk in the front the kid gets an unrestricted view. I've seen the Urban Arrow around and if I had kids and disposable income, I would get one. But they're more expensive; the ones I know of run between $5-$10k. #bikeNite

@ascentale@sfba.social @PamelaSchure@universeodon.com @bikenite@fedigroups.social @FlockOfCats@famichiki.jp #BikeNite A3. I haven't transported any kids, but I like my Tern e-cargo-bike very much and they also make e-cargo-bikes for hauling kids. Would give them a look.

#BikeNite A3 I carried our 2nd kid through toddlerhood on the xtracycle #edgeRunner while also carrying the 3yrs-older sibling to & from preschool. We had a yepp seat that could go in a front/back rectangle slot of the deck + "stoker bar", the 20in rear wheel kept them sitting lower, stable. I later got the #umbrellaBike (#superCargo) which is much nicer to shield the kid+me from cold & rain, though tern has a clubhouse / there are other rear lids now. @ascentale@sfba.social @PamelaSchure@universeodon.com @FlockOfCats@famichiki.jp
