But that's all over. The boomers have fucked up the U.S. economy and the world for everybody, and my kids will be the first generation of middle-class white people since WW2 to be worse off financially than their parents. If the fucking boomers think the kids entering the job market now are going to get "more conservative" as they age, they're deluding themselves. Politics are going to change for the better in the U.S. It's going to be painful to get there, but we're going to get there. 2/2

@jik@federate.social yes but also, traditionally, lead poisoning.

  • @jik@federate.social I've also heard the theory that "you get more conservative as you get older" is a tale of survivorship bias. It only looks like people get more conservative because conservative people live longer because they are selfish bastards who hoard all the resources (good food, health care, etc).

@jik@federate.social There is also the fact that wealthier people tend to live longer, so the older any cohort is the greater the proportion of wealthy people in it.

@jik@federate.social others might get there, but with hateful attitudes like yours you won't be one of them.

@jik@federate.social I’ve been told since I was a kid that we’d inevitably swing left as a culture. I’m well into my 40s and we’ve only gone the wrong way.

@jik@federate.social i hear what you are saying, but i think placing blame on boomers writ large for the problems of america is inaccurate if you spend enough time thinking about who really did what... it was actually a much narrower slice of the american body politic that fucked things up, namely the people who knowingly allowed the capture and subjugation of the media and the state by monied interests... this started in the aftermath of wwi by most accounts... the boomers were just the most brainwashed victims and have been the most annoyingly denialist of reality, but thats like blaming the people of north korea for juche to blame them for the larger syndrome of american hubris that led to the current status quo

@jik@federate.social why do Americans always want to blame somebody else for their problems. As a boomer with grandchildren I am aware of the issues. But i never made those issues and I would argue those born after me by a couple of decades are more to blame - bearing in mind we boomers are dying out. But by dying out and with children who do not need financial support those grandchildren will eventually get a financial boost when their grandparents die.

@jik@federate.social @jik@federate.social Your ignorance is amazing. Boomers didn’t cause any of this. Boomers worked for union shops and had pensions and now you want to vilify us because we were able to retire and not starve. Half of the people on these sites are begging other people for money, we worked our asses off and deserve everything we have and I’m pretty sick of snowflakes blaming us for working hard and being able to retire. Form unions, join a union, stop whining.
