@woodooprod@c.im I started my company by writing a visual text editor program for CP/M, which I called PolyVUE. As I recall, a few hundred copies were sold, mostly through Lifeboat Associates, a mail order software distribution company. I still have a few PolyVUE manuals I kept as souvenirs. I met Gary Kildall several times at industry events, and also his wife Dorothy who helped run Digital Research in the early days. It was a small community in those days, but we were all excited about the new world we were building. (Of course no one anticipated spam, phishing and crypto!)

@provuejim@techhub.social I love reading anecdotes like this. Thanks for sharing! It was certainly a fascinating era. Have you considered saving a copy of your software for preservation purposes? On archive.org, for example? I’m sure plenty of enthusiasts would be interested. Have a great week! :0)
