Not sure what's going on with me this year, but I'm finishing almost all of the books I start, so there aren't many DNFs to add to this year's list so far.
For all of February, March and April there's only thing I've given up on.
🔵 NANA by Ai Yazawa
I stopped after chapter 30, which is 9 volumes into the series. I’ve always been curious about this super popular manga, a shoujo classic. Maybe I’m reading it too late in life and it would’ve been more fun in my early 20s. I got so tired of the relationship angst. So much anguish, so much drama, so much miscommunication.
I didn’t find the friendship between the two protagonists interesting enough to continue. I just got past the twist that will change up the dynamics a lot, and I didn’t feel like reading anymore.
I actually started this series in Dutch, but the translation was very low quality, so I switched to English after a few volumes. It made it a little better to read, but I was still dragging my feet. I had to admit defeat: NANA is not for me. Time to move on to something else.

My DNFs for May and June, the number is still surprisingly low! No hard feelings either.
🔵 "Jonathan Abernathy You Are Kind" by Molly McGhee
Cool cover, cool plot, cool ideas. The quirky narrative style became too grating for me to continue. I couldn’t help but think of the ‘The Stanley Parable’ voice-over at all times. Maybe I could be convinced to go back to it if someone with a taste similar to mine makes a case for it, but for now I’ll leave it alone.
🔵 “Paradise Logic” by Sophie Kemp
This was quite funny at first. A problem I often run into with satire books though, is that they’re funny for +/- 50 pages and then I grow tired of them. The point has been made and it turns into more of the same. Maybe I should stick to satire short stories? Anyway, the cover for this is wild, very funny and unreadable in public for anyone who wants to remain invisible.
