@juergen_hubert@mementomori.social Helen Creighton was a famous Canadian folklorist. She travelled around Nova Scotia (an eastern province, one of the earliest places settled by European groups, then Africans from the US slave trade)"collecting songs, tales and customs of Gaelic, English, German, Mi'kmaq, African and Acadian origin." There is some critique about her selection of work for her books, as there is a Scottish slant, but it is interesting.
