@eniko@peoplemaking.games I do grocery shopping for a living right now, and I mask every time I go out. Even if it weren't a matter of caring about myself, the people in the store, and the people I'm shopping for (who are often elderly or disabled), there are sometimes other people who DO mask in the store (again, often elderly or disabled) and you can see the relief on their face when they realize they're not the only one. That by itself is worth it.

@eniko@peoplemaking.games Big introvert advantage for this one. I routinely go to places where no one else is masked and I'm not embarrassed because I'm basically not looking for social cues on what to do.

@eniko@peoplemaking.games a cashier asked me today why I'm wearing a mask. I replied politely but now that I'm thinking about it, FFP2 might not cut it. Maybe I need to start wearing an MSA respirator in public just to make a statement.

@eniko@peoplemaking.games Just love going into a gym - you know, those areas where you handle stuff other people sweat on and everyone is taking big, gasping breaths - and being the only mask in sight. Slightly less upsetting than seeing but a handful of masks at my doctor’s office.

@eniko@peoplemaking.games Failing that, use training wheels: Carry a mask in your pocket. See someone wearing a mask? Slip yours on. Congrats, you've made their day measurably better. Now everyone without a mask can feel like the asshole.

@eniko@peoplemaking.games I always try to turn it around and ask about the things the person is already doing without question: * sunglasses * sunblock * hat * helmet * wrist/elbow guards * coat / clothes * shoes * brushing teeth * washing hands * bathing * seatbelts * tire-chains People are allowed to choose not to mask properly only when they stop doing everything else they're already doing per Civilization.
