@tiefpunkt@social.tchncs.de if you take I to consideration the fact that most places these are being set up in will already have WiFi, your not using much more electricity then is already being used. But you could just as easily plug your WiFi router into a solar panel. And manu people *are* using the routers for direct hosting using things like openwrt

@liaizon@social.wake.st all valid points. Still, I feel the "solar" bit is distracting. For me using an old phone for non-phone-purposes would be about reusing what's already there, powerful compute for cheap. The power source is secondary if not even less important.
