Food ingredient pricing is weird. I started a batch of hard cider today. 🇨🇦 $22.50 for 15 litres of apple cider, a couple of bucks for yeast and nutrient, and one time cost for a bucket, carboy, etc. It would make no financial/time sense to start with raw apples. Vs. pumpkin puree: $6 / can (two pies). Or $1.50 for a pumpkin that takes ten minutes of my time to bake, peel, puree, and clean up. Plus I get bonus seeds for snacks! I think I'm going to freeze a bunch of puree in the next week.
